Estate of Pierre Reinhart

Domaine de Pierre Reinhart in Orschwihr in the 68

From the first telephone contact with Mr. Pierre Reinhart, the current passed between us. Immediately I felt that we were two people motivated by our professional passion. This domain is located in the typical Alsatian village of Orschwihr in the upper Rhine. What a pleasure to be able to taste wines from this town, knowing that part of the production is classified as the Grands Crus of Alsace. It appears for the first time in a deed of donation from Count Eberhard d’Eguisheim to Murbach in 728, in which we find the mention vineis (vines). This town is crossed by the divine Alsace wine route, known to all tourists in love with Alsace wines and located in the district of Guebwiller. The Saint Nicolas church was built in 1778 according to the plans of the architect Jean-Baptiste Alexandre Chassain.

The vinesHarvestPeter at work

Winemaker from father to son, the Reinhart family has been listed since 1732 in the town of Orschwihr in the Haut Rhin. Here we combine tradition and modernity, striving to produce authentic local wines. She masters the complete cycle from the vine to the cellar on a 6.5 ha farm, you will see Pierre next to his tractor, but also omnipresent in his cellar in order to make you discover all of his productions, always in great moments. of user-friendliness. You will be surprised by his welcome and also by the quality of all the wines that he will make you taste. It is impossible in this article not to talk about its Grands Crus and in particular its Riesling Grand Cru Kitterlé 2011, well marked by its terroir, its pretty shiny color or its Gewurztraminer Vendanges Tardives 2010, subtle and persistent which remains a wine to keep that will still flourish over time; I will finish with his Pinot Gris Vendanges Tardives 2009, with scents of gingerbread and over-ripened apple. I will be happy to combine some of my recipes with these wonderful wines.

Riesling 2009 Late harvest

Made only from Riesling varieties, the grapes are only picked when they are over-ripe. The development of Botrytis cinerea (noble rot of the grape) initiates a phenomenon of evaporation, this reinforces the concentration of aromas and sugar. In the mouth we find the same characteristics of lemons, passion fruits, acacia blossom honey and a lot of length in the mouth: a true masterpiece.

Gewurztraminer 2013Lippelsberg

Riesling 2015 Bollenberg

Recognized as one of the best grape varieties in the world, it offers a bouquet of great finesse. It has been famous since its Gallo-Roman origin, was surely born in the Rhine valley in Germany, then established in Alsace at the beginning of the 15th century. Riesling makes it possible to produce white wines of great quality, very aromatic, lively and elegant. With a palette of aromas of flowers, lemon, and peach, mineral nuances for certain granite soils, they generally have a good balance between richness and acidity.

Pinot noir 2011 Barrels

The only grape variety in Alsace to produce a red or rosé wine, which came very early from Burgundy. Although not very colorful, Pinot Noir takes advantage of a maceration which enriches it with tannin. A powerful red wine (14 °) very ample with notes of vanilla and red fruits; it is drunk chilled. It will seduce you with its freshness and balance.

The other grape varieties to discover later, I hope from this beautiful property:

Alsace grand cru; Edelzwicker; Kitterle; Muscat; Pinot blanc; Sylvanner; Pinot gris (surely one of my favorites); Crémant d’Alsace….
